Cottage Birdhouse
The benefits of having birds in and around your garden are many and varied, ranging from the esthetic to the ecological. A suitable nesting site is a sure-fire way to attract birds to your garden and to keep them there while they raise their families.
This birdhouse is elegant but simple. With sculpted ends, clapboard siding and a copper-covered roof, it is visually appealing… to us as well as to its tenants. On the practical side, it is easy to dismantle for end-of-season cleaning (important for the health of the incoming family) and has holes for drainage and ventilation.
Some safety tips: the interior should not be painted or stained, and the house should be mounted on a pole to discourage predators.
The plans for this project detail all you need to know to build the birdhouse and come with a complete materials list, step-by-step instructions and illustrations.
