Our traditional roll top desk has been a reader favorite for years, and it is easy to see why. Solid, sturdy construction, a large writing surface, and plenty of storage space all combine to make a classic.

With this project, we have scaled things back and come up with a design that is suitable for a child’s desk. Adults too will find the project lots of fun to build.

Of course, this smaller version takes less effort and material than our full-size desk, and is well within the capabilities of anyone with access to basic tools. Construction is straightforward and plenty of illustrations and step-by-step instructions guide you throughout.

Finished the child’s desk stands 34-inches tall, 31-inches in length, and 19-inches deep. Our full-size desk measures 66-inches wide and 30-inches deep, and has much the same design, albeit with larger and additional drawers.
