5024 - Six-Sided Curio Cabinet - This six-sided curio cabinet is bound to spark a lot of conversation and curiosity when displayed in your home. Its design is charmingly attractive. It's different and it's fun to build. And, as with our earlier corner cabinet and country hutch projects, we've taken every consideration to make this assignment as easy to make as it is handsome.BONUS PLANS: Save $20 when you order our corner cabinet and country hutch plans in combination with the six-sided curio.
We began by designing the project in two parts. First we built the lower half of the cabinet. Later we finished the upper half. With some simple planning, we came up with a design that allowed the upper portion to sit securely atop the base without nails, screws or glue.
This accomplishes two objectives. First, it breaks the project down into two manageable tasks. Second, it lets you avoid having to work with long, six-foot lengths of wood and glass. The molding was store bought and pine panels were used all around.
The pattern for this project clearly shows all joints as well as the construction of all the glass panels. The plan also comes with a shopping list, cutting schedule, step-by-step instructions and sketches. When finished, the cabinet stands slightly more than six feet tall, 20 inches wide and 20 inches deep. The corner curio and country hutch are of similar height, and can be made of the same wood to achieve a consistent look throughout your home. Pattern No. 5024.
