Arts and Crafts Shelves
This elegant, standalone shelving unit is the ideal setting for showing off your smaller treasures such as pictures, collectibles, etc. Designed by the Meier brothers of California, this sturdy unit evokes the furniture of the old Southwest – built to last but nevertheless very appealing to the eye. This shelving will fit pretty well anywhere in the house: the den, living room, or even in the hallway as an accent piece.
For the craftsman, this unit has still another attraction - its loose tenon joinery in which two mating mortises are anchored by a third piece – a shaped peg or tenon. This type of joinery provides an unbelievably solid joint without the use of nails or glue.
The plans for this project detail all you need to know to build the shelves, and come with a complete materials list, step-by-step instructions and illustrations.
