It’s not as though early pioneers had any more time on their hands than we do today. One thing is for certain though, when they built things they could build them right.

That is certainly the case with this week’s projects, the Craftsman Bookcase pictured here, and our BONUS PLANS: a six-sided curio cabinet, and a lawyer’s bookcase. While a little more challenging than the other two, our featured bookcase has been cleverly designed with a combination of machinery and handwork. It has sturdy mortise and through tenon construction, square pegs, and shop-made door pulls, just like the originals, now one hundred years old.
